“10 bucks is 10 bucks” Strikes Again! Easy Ways to Increase Your Income

by David Bakke

increase your incomeHey guys.

Back when I was struggling to get my finances in order, I never really gave to much thought to how I could start to bring more money into my life. The only way that I really knew how was to do the best that I could at my job, and try to get raises as often as I could. That, and to maximize my bonus potential whenever possible. The only other option I always thought was to find another job.

Then one day I had a conversation with someone at my church who owned his own landscaping business. We got to talking and he finally told me the way he got his business going. He started it in his spare time, and built it up enough until one day, he no longer needed his regular job.

Now, I am not advocating that we ALL go out and do this, but why not at least begin to adopt this type of approach? What I am speaking about is an effective use of your spare time.

One of the first things that you can do is to market any kind of talent at all that you might have. Do you have a skill at “fixing” or “repairing” anything at all? Great, market it! What do I mean by that? I mean, in this economy, anybody and everybody is looking for ways to save and would much rather call an independent repair guy rather than a professional company. Spread the word amongst your friends, put a free ad on craigslist-just throw something out there. It could take you all of about ten minutes to do. This can be applied to any other talents that you might have as well.

Got a bunch of extra stuff lying around the house? Rather than have a garage sale, if a lot of it is in good enough condition, try to sell it on the internet. Don’t be intimidated by this, it’s easier than it seems! I opened a seller’s account on Amazon in about ten minutes and I was shocked at several things-first, what things other people will actually pay money for, how simple it was to do, and how profitable it could be. Try it out (or go the EBay route). It can’t hurt.

Have some more spare time? Fill out surveys on the internet for money. Granted, it may take you a while to find the sites that actually pay you something that is worth the time you need to invest in it, but you can make money doing it. I am sure there are others out there, but the two that I use are Lightspeed Research Panel, and Pinecone Research.

My point is this-you can make extra money in your everyday life without finding a second job, without trying to change jobs, and without doing any of the traditional things that you thought were the only ways to increase your income.

Spend one less hour in front of the TV, and try to start something profitable in your spare time. Remember, it is your SPARE time, so what can it hurt, and what can you lose? The ideas I just offered require virtually no investment, so it can only be a win-win.

When I first started out, I had no idea what a blog was, what Twitter was, or Face book, or anything else. My book will be on sale soon, and well, I’ll let you know how the rest goes. Get up and do something—because, like I always say, “Ten bucks is Ten Bucks”.
